3×3 Street League Lelystad: sun, dream court and a vibe that switches on immediately

On Saturday, May 23rd, we drove towards Lelystad, and you could feel it even before we walked onto the court: this was going to be one of those days where everything clicks. 28 degrees, a brand-new dream court (just laid), and a neighborhood eager to come together. And honestly: I love that moment when you arrive, hear the first ball bounce, and you know… today we aren't just going to play basketball, today we're going to build a vibe.

Our role: the transition between youth and 18+

We were asked to capture precisely that one element where an event stands or falls: the transition. You want the day to run smoothly, for everyone to feel welcome, and for the energy to remain high — even when the groups change. So: workshop + show, with that typical Showcase touch. Interaction, humor, skills, and above all: taking people along in the moment.

Graffiti, DJ booth and a podcast on location

Upon arrival, the sun was shining, the kids were already busy, and there was plenty to do. Graffiti opportunities (that creative street touch that immediately puts you in the right mood), a DJ booth powering the entire court, and a live podcast. It felt like street culture at its best: sport, creativity, and community all in one.

A small moment that feels big

And yes — I ran into Nizar, one of the regulars of the 3x3 leaders who leads and organizes workshops and events across the country. Great guy. With his brother there too: immediately another one of those moments that shows how strong that community is. That’s what I find so cool about days like this: you come for basketball, but you leave with a connection.

What we saw here is exactly what we believe in: an event that is not just about basketball, but about community, creativity, and experience. The 3×3 Street League is more than playing games — it is a build-up to that spot in the finals, but above all, a place where young people and adults meet in a positive way.
