Hardewijk court opening
Four months ago, I was in Harderwijk for the sports gala. This time, it was for the opening of a new half-court. It was nice that I already knew Alderman Marcel. He would be opening the gate later that day, along with the chairman of basketball club Rebound 73.
Although the weather is a bit gloomy, the boys are already busy with the BEN foundation (wheelchair basketball). We set everything up, and around 16 p.m. the kids start pouring in. They think I'm good at playing and dribbling. I have to laugh when I'm compared to basketball player Stephen Curry again.
Because the basketball court is surrounded by grass, everyone stands on the half-court. This creates a cozy, friendly atmosphere. With the court full of children, the alderman begins his opening speech. He opens the court by shooting a basketball through the hoop. It takes him a few tries, but then he's done it! In addition to my basketball show, there are various workshops and games, such as reaction games and listening games.
