The past few weeks at Thorbecke Talent School Prinselaan have been all about the MDT final events. What a celebration of energy, courage, and teamwork! Several groups of students from 4H and 4VWO took the lead, organized sports activities, and truly excelled. The result? A series of inspiring events focused on responsibility, fun, and personal development.
Each group added its own unique twist to the program. For example, the girls kicked off on October 8th with an original soccer warm-up and a dodgeball game where the passion radiated from the field. Safety and team spirit were paramount, and the enthusiasm was infectious for the first-years. Coaches Bart, Kershawn, and Galdino saw the participants beaming and were visibly proud.
A hilarious moment arose when gym teacher Douwe Jouwsma was an hour off in his schedule. While the group was already getting ready, Douwe entered to loud applause – a spontaneous icebreaker that immediately warmed the atmosphere. Moments like these make MDT events unforgettable.
On October 13th, it was the turn of a vibrant group led by Galdino. Despite a somewhat turbulent start, the group quickly grew into their roles. Two women pulled their classmates along in a positive flow, and no fewer than five of the eight participants earned their LSR diplomas! Even boys whose leadership had been questioned beforehand took the lead with conviction.
During the MDT final event on October 6th, Rayan, Thierry, Aiden, and Marouane showed how courage and teamwork can make a gym class a real party. Rayan even earned his LSR1 diploma – reason for an extra celebration! Any doubts were dispelled with humor, encouragement, and perseverance. That's precisely what makes MDT so unique.
The final event took place on October 16th, when Kay, Danté, Yentley, Thijs, and Bas concluded their MDT program by taking over Luke Homan's gym class. They were ready from eight in the morning. Preparations were meticulous: groceries were purchased, the gym was set up, and everyone knew exactly what needed to be done. During the games, hidden talents emerged – Bas, normally quiet, blossomed as a game leader and earned his LSR 1 diploma. Kay's enthusiasm was infectious, and he also received his diploma.
The MDT final events at Thorbecke Talent School Prinselaan demonstrate how young people can grow when given the space to learn, make mistakes, and collaborate. Coaches are proud of the dedication, courage, and positive energy of all participants. Each event was unique, but the common thread remains: taking responsibility, having fun, and growing stronger together.
