A permanent partner with a clear mission
Lyceum Ypenburg is one of those trusted partners where you always feel: it's not just about school, but about empowering young people. "Accent on talent" isn't a slogan there; it's an attitude.
We've been involved with the Basketball with Impact Foundation for years, and through Showcase Basketball, we support sports days and open houses to add flair, showmanship, and interaction. Not as a gimmick, but as a catalyst: making talent visible and giving young people a platform.
400 people in the auditorium: a stage you can feel
During the open house, the auditorium features a stage where everything comes together. Theater, dance, singing, basketball—it all comes together. And if the auditorium is full, it can easily accommodate 400 people.
The goal is clear: show future first-year students how great the school is and what extracurricular activities are available outside of school hours. Talent development in real life, not on paper.
The Lyceum Ypenburg Eagles: fewer people, more spotlight
I was able to produce another show with the Lyceum Ypenburg Eagles. This year, we had slightly fewer students due to personal commitments. But honestly? Fewer doesn't mean less of a show.
It actually meant:
– More room for solo pieces in which everyone could really shine
– Tighter joint pieces
– More emphasis on choreography and timing
We rehearsed for weeks with three top performers, and when they arrived they said, “We’re really excited.” That moment—that energy before you even step on stage—that’s what I live for.
Dress rehearsal, then three shows: new magic every hour
We went through the dress rehearsal and then performed three shows, one every hour. And each time, the same image: sparkling faces, shining eyes, enormous smiles… and yes, tension too.
But most of all, proud. Proud that they were able to represent their school. Proud that they were able to let their sport speak for itself. And as a Showcase Basketball coach, it truly warms my heart to see the new generation performing on stage with as much passion and joy as I once did—with basketball as the vehicle.
