Time To Glow Bouncers

A year ago, Jolanda—a top volunteer and the mother of two basketball players from a club in Gouda—had already asked if I could keep this Saturday free for a glow-in-the-dark graduation event. For the past six months, my schedule has been full on the Saturdays the club was available. After a large sponsored walk, the club raised enough money to organize a fantastic graduation event. In addition to our regular glow-in-the-dark team (Jayden and Dimme), there are also two new Team Players: Midas and Tijn, who are eager to experience what they can expect next year. I look back on a very pleasant and smooth collaboration.

The music booms through the speakers. We start with the freestyle basketball show. I see many enthusiastic and familiar faces. We begin with a warm-up, followed by various skill challenges in several zones. The time is officially kept because there are great prizes to be won. For the older players, there's a special ball worth 60 euros to be won in the half-court shot. In the entire line of 40 (young) adults, the first boy scores, which makes everyone laugh. So we give away a few small balls so more people can have a shot. It's a fun and successful day.
