Urban Culture Festival Den Helder

For the third year in a row, it was time for the Urban Culture Festival Den Helder, and what a day it was! It all started with a phone call from an old friend, Kim Smit of Theater De Kampanje. She asked if we could provide a basketball court and some cool entertainment for their event. When she saw on our website that we offer a complete package, the decision was easy. It's always great to see that previous collaborations stick and that people find us for these unique events.

The program was packed with sports and entertainment. From Nessa L. Jackson and the Jackson Twins to BMX barre and performances by dance groups and DJs. It promised to be a day no one would soon forget. So we loaded the Driving Experience bus with basketball hoops, an arcade machine, the floor, gaming consoles, and of course, our energy. With a large truck from my neighbor and our own bus fully loaded, we set off for Den Helder.

The magic began upon arrival. Large posters of icons like Tupac and Missy Elliott adorned the entrance, and our team—consisting of Kim, Pieter, and Matas—got to work right away. In no time, we had set up our over 100 square meter corner: an arcade machine, photo booth, product displays, gaming consoles, a 3x3 basketball court with a crash pad, and of course, the Driving Experience, completely in style with LED lighting and mirrors. It was a place you simply had to be!

At noon, the doors opened, and from that moment on, the kids poured in. The beauty of these kinds of events is that everyone is free to join in whenever they want. The atmosphere was immediately fantastic: kids on the basketball court, selfies at the arcade machine, and admiring glances in the Driving Experience. Young people didn't even realize they were on a bus, the interior was so impressive.

The basketball court was constantly filled with 15 to sometimes 30 children at a time. Cooperative games, relay races, shooting challenges, and skills—it all took place. And while one half of the court was used for dancing to the beats of a well-known DJ, the hoopers continued playing. It was wonderful to see all these different activities taking place harmoniously side by side.

Our first show was a blast. Along with the Jackson Twins, Nasser L. Jackson, and BMX rider Barre, we delivered a performance that brought the entire venue to a standstill. The music started, the crowd gathered around the field, and our skills elicited plenty of "oohs" and "aahs." This time, I spoke through a headset during the show, which was a fun new experience.

After the show, we had a chance to refuel while Olympic champion Worthy de Jong and his girlfriend Janice gave a 3x3 clinic. This gave us time to grab a bite to eat, but the Driving Experience and arcade machine remained busy. In the afternoon, we returned to work with a new group, full of energy, and here too, fun and interaction were the focus. It's always great to see how a second show with a different audience brings a completely new dynamic.

As the icing on the cake, we ended the day with a 4-on-4 match between our Showcase team and the talented girls from the Suns under-14s. It was a wonderful way to end the day, complete with a photo in the photo booth. Kim, who plays for ZZ Leiden in the Eredivisie, and the Suns girls loved spending the day together. to experience.

Thanks to our energetic team, the cleanup went smoothly. Afterward, we enjoyed a meal that catered to everyone: vegan, halal, and gluten-free. The drive home was long, but we finished with a late-night dinner at Shabu Shabu in Zoetermeer. It's always nice to receive a warm welcome there, even in a tracksuit. As we finished the meal, we reflected on a fantastic day full of sports, culture, and unforgettable moments.
